Assassin's Creed 3 Review

Hey guys, Nick here! I know I promised an AC: Brotherhood and Revelations review but I feel those games are a little dated, especially since we are about to see the release of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. So here is a review about a game that is recent enough to be relevant.

Now then, Assassins' Creed 3 is the first game since number 2 to feature a brand new ancestor of Desmonds, Ratonhnhake:ton also known as Connor. He is an original American in the 18th whose village is attacked by British Templars and seeks revenge through the Assassins. Throughout the game you team up with countless historically iconic figures such as George Washington to help fight off the Templar-aided British in the Civil War. The game features an entirely new set of weapons based on the time such as a Bow and Arrow in addition to versions of the old favorites like throwing knives and the ever-handy sword.

The game also brings completely new features to the game, the Hunting system allows you to use your skills to hunt and kill animals from rabbits, all the way to Mountain Lions and Bears in order to harvest their fur and other goods to trade for money or to use to make your own upgrades. There is also Naval Combat, where you take command of a mighty sea-faring vessel to take out enemies and perform specific missions, a nice little treat to prepare you for Black Flag where this new style of combat will take center stage.

On top of the new stuff, the game has once again improved on the old mechanics such as the combat, free running and assassin recruits, making them more unique and easier to use.

Now that we've covered the basics, let's get on with the review.

The things I liked about the game were the thoroughly compelling story, from start to finish I found myself unable to put the game down due to it's constant twists and unpredictable flow. The naval missions played a big part in making this feel like a brand new game, which has been a problem since Assassins Creed 2 and Brotherhood were virtually the same game with a different story. I also loved the hunting part of the game, allowing you to enjoy yourself while you walk across the large outer maps to your objectives and side-quests by silently taking down a Buck with your bare hands and running through the trees as well as buildings.

Another thing I loved about the game was by doing Homestead missions you could build your own thriving community, with each resident having their own unique skills to help make upgrades for Connors weapons and such, as well as providing lots of entertainment watching your community grow and interact with each-other.

Unfortunately the game was far from perfect, and while it had several things about it that made it unique and brilliant, there were several things that took me out of the game as well. For example; the very first thing you notice about the game is that it is VERY glitchy, you'll be hard-pressed to find a section of the game that isn't spazzing out like you poured water on the console. If you thought Skyrim was bad, this game makes it look like a masterpiece.

But not only that, the Assassin Recruits aspect of the game was dumbed down something fierce. I used to love leveling up my recruits, sending them on missions and having them fight for me. Now you can only get four AFTER completing a series of boring tasks for them, and even after you get them, they aren't much use. They have a lot of abilities, but if you don't use them all the time for seemingly no reason they never level up and they are only a hindrance in combat and evasion.

Now that we've weighed the pros and cons of the game, let's say we rate this bad boy!

This game was overall very good, but not perfect. I much preferred the second game in the series over this one due to its overwhelming perfection, this one was on the right track but had too many flaws.

Overall....I'd give Assassin's Creed 3 a 7/10, if you are a fan of the series, you should definitely buy this game for it's story and unique gameplay.

Rockstar apologizes for lack of GTA V updates

RockstarGames just apologized to fans about the lack of new details about the most anticipated game of all time, Grand Theft Auto V.

"As we have said before, we have often had long gaps between asset releases on previous games and will continue to do so in the future. We are sorry if you find this frustrating, but please understand, we don't do this because, we don't care about our fans, or don't respect our fans, hate GTA fans etc..- precisely the opposite!."

Rockstar also stated that "We do it because we want to make sure we only release 100% correct information, and because we want to keep plenty back for the actual game release so there are still lots of surprises when you play it."

They further added "Sorry, we can't provide a timeline as to when you can expect more info or media from GTAV. Right now we're just bunkered down busy working on the game and aren't ready to share anything new- please be patient and of course there will be more to see in the month leading up to game release. Thank you."

There is still plenty of time for Rockstar to show new details, since the game is now being launched on September 17, 2013. I am sure we will begin to see more content as we approach the release date and knowing RockstarGames I can say for certain that when the time comes RockstarGames will bring out the big guns and go all crazy on advertisement. If there is one game developer, who knows how to create hype and how to get people excited for a game- its Rockstar!

So be patient guys and hold on tight! more info is soon to come! Until then, we can continue to watch the same old trailers again and again.

God of War: Ascension Review by IGN

http://playstationgang.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/god-of-war-ascension-02.jpg

IGN has just released their review of God of War: Ascension, the latest installment in the God of War series. The game is a prequel to the first 3 titles released on the PS3 and is essentially an origin story that puts Kratos against the Furies who are servants of Aries whom was the former God of War. The game itself has an incredible combat system that has been improved from previous titles, outstanding visuals and epic game play. I would definitely recommend this game to veterans of the series and also to those who have yet to experience the God of War franchise. This one is a must buy. Assassins' Creed 4: Black Flag

Hey guys, Nick here to talk about the highly anticipated next chapter of the Assassins' Creed series, Black Flag.

This game is the sixth installment in the AC timeline, even though it is labeled as the 4th. The reason is simple, both Brotherhood and Revelations featured the same ancestor so they were considered expansions to the same story where Assassins' Creed 3 features a brand new ancestor. This time the story follows a man named Edward Kenway, who is the father of Haytham Kenway and the grandfather of Connor, the hero of the third game.

The game is to be set a bit further in the past than in Assassins' Creed 3, in the 18th century Caribbean Sea with the entire game themed more around Pirates. The gameplay will accomodate this by implementing more of what we got a taste for in the last game, naval missions. This game is said to be approximately 40% aboard your ship pillaging enemy ships and performing missions detrimental to the story, this time around the ship will be fully up-gradable with even more weapons and abilities than in the last game which gave us a small taste of what was to come in Black Flag.

There is no doubt in my mind that this game is going to be great, but one question seems to be floating around everybodys lips, who is going to replace Desmond? Well with a bit of research I have found the answer. Us. Yes, the players themselves will be taking the main role of the game, not as a kick-ass assassin in training...but as programmers...Desmonds memories have been secured in the animus and it is up to us to access them and relive them ourselves to progress through the story. The game is expected to be released by the end of October 2013.

Thanks for reading guys, special thanks goes out to assassinscreed.wikia.com for my information about the game, I personally can't wait for the game to be released. Don't forget to follow us on twitter and leave a comment below

The Last of Us

The Last of Us

The Last of Us is an upcoming survivor horror action-adventure game developed by the famous Naughty Dog, best known for the Uncharted series. The Last of Us is a PS3 exclusive and is scheduled for launch on June 14, 2013.
The Last of Us is a third-person view game. The players will play as Joel, while the girl, Ellie will be controlled by the AI. The game will involve gun fighting and melee combat and an amazing cover system. As seen in the demo shown at E3 last year. You can view the video below.
The game is set two decades after a fungus has killed millions of people and the streets are roaming with infected beings. The surviving humans are kept at quarantine camps, under the heel of the United States Military. Joel, is a black-marketeer in one of the quarantine zones, he goes through an event in which he makes a promise to an old friend that he will get a young, fourteen year old girl named Ellie, away from the harsh control of the U.S Military and its cruel ways to a resistance group called the Fireflies. So the game is about their journey though the USA, while avoiding infected creatures and making it safely to the resistance camps.

SimCity

SimCity fails to deliver!
The highly anticipated city-building game is finally upon us. It is developed by Maxis, which is a subsidiary of Electronic Arts. It was released on PC on March 05, 2013 and an OS X version is scheduled for Q1/Q2 2013. The game allows players to create settlements that can grow into a city by dividing land into three sections, commercial, industrial, and residential. The game allows the player to build and manage public services such as taxes, utilities, and transport.

As interesting and amazing it sounds and looks, Maxis fail to deliver this magnificent game to the audience. The game is broken, it features a new security system called the DRM. An online security system that requires the player to be connected and logged-in at all times to play the game, even if they want to just play by themselves. The new security system broke the game for thousands of players and the most anticipated and awaited game became a disaster. Player were left to look at the screen below for the game they paid for.
Even if you get lucky to find a server, then you are treated with another message saying "Server reached maximum capacity" and then you are placed in the queue and are not allowed to play a single player game because it forces you to constantly be online.
So BEWARE of the forced online DRM. Will you be playing this game 10 years down the track like precious SimCities? No, you won't be!. And E.A wants this, so you will be forced to buy the next game when the servers go down.

Unfortunately I can not recommend buying SimCity until these crippling server issues are fixed. Please don't purchase it until there's a reasonable expectation that you'll be able to actually play the game.

Assassins' Creed 2 Review

Attention Privates! It's time to continue our review of the Assassins' Creed series! This time we will be covering the second game, aptly titled Assassins' Creed 2, before I get into the meat of the review, let's go over the story.

This story starts off with Abstergo finding the location of the artifact they were using Altair to find in the previous game, and not only that, it is revealed that there are dozens of similar items all over the world and plan to use Desmond to find them all. Desmond escapes Abstergo with the help of Lucy Stillman, an undercover Assassin and they go into hiding with Lucy's group, Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane. It turns out Rebecca has an animus of her own and has Desmond once again delve into the mind of his ancestors, this time with the goal of training him how to be an assassin himself. This time he accesses the memories of an ancestor born in Renaissance Italy, Ezio Auditore da Firenze. As the story progresses Desmond hones his skills with the help of Ezio and the Bleeding Effect, which allows Desmond to learn his skills through living them as Ezio. I could go more into detail about the story but I do not want to spoil anything for those who have yet to play the game. Anyway, let's get into the review.

This game is a true sequel to the first game, not only does it seem to keep what we loved about the first game, but it fixes and enhances the aspects of the game we didn't like so much and includes some new ones. First of all the combat system has been streamlined to include dozens of awesome counter-kill cinematics, which change depending on which weapon you are using. Now in combat you can counter enemies when you have no weapon selected, which disarms the enemy and allows you to use their own weapon against them, this ability helps with the stronger enemies you can't counter. This game introduces a monetary system which works with a shop system to help progress through the game, allowing you to purchase stronger weapons and armor to increase your overall health and combat ability. You can find money by looting chests found throughout the game, pick-pocketing citizens (beware, this increases your awareness), and looting the corpses of dead enemies. You can also make money by purchasing upgrades for the various cities you can explore, allowing more money to flow into the bank for you to retrieve.

The minimap has been updated to make it easier to see where you need to go in main missions as well as the many side missions spread throughout the game. The free-running system has been changed to allow for quicker, more agile movements and the ways you can kill your enemies subtly have become more creative.

Overall this game not only improves on the flaws of the previous game, it enhances the overall feel of the game and ultimately furthered the games success. The story was even more compelling to the point where I beat nearly the whole game in one sitting before I realized it was 3am.

Out of a possible 10 I give this game a solid 10/10 for being a true sequel to an already awesome game.

Thanks for reading and once again feel free to leave a comment down below, and follow us on twitter to give us suggestions on what games to review next as well as to keep up to speed with what we will be doing next!

Assassins' Creed 1 Review

Hey guys, Nick here to talk to you about the first game in a series of hugely popular stealth-assassination games, Assassins' Creed. Before I give you my personal opinion about the game, what I like and dislike, I should go into the story a bit for those who may not have picked this game up and are thinking about it.

The story follows Desmond Miles, a mild-mannered bar tender with a secret past. Desmonds ancestors were part of a group called the Assassins, a group dedicated to keeping power out of the hands of those who would use it for evil. Their direct enemy is a group called the Templars, who seek out any form of power and exploit it to perform said evil. Desmond has been kidnapped and held prisoner by a company called Abstergo which is owned by the Templars. They are looking for something that one of Desmonds ancestors, a man named Altair knows the location of and they plan to have Desmond show them where Altair hid it by using the Animus, a machine that can access the deepest recesses of the subjects mind and pull from it the memories of its ancestors. You play the majority of the game as Altair, playing through missions leading up to the final memory with the occasional break to play as Desmond and learn more about the Assassins, the Templars and the current situation. Now that you are up to speed on the basic plot of the game, let's get to the review!

In terms of graphics, there is nothing special about this game when it comes to the character sprites but the environments are breathtaking. The environments are completely traversable with the use of free-running which has not been seen since the Prince of Persia games and utilizes it perfectly, you can use it effectively to evade enemies or simply get to where you want to go faster. The animus worlds are split into two sections, the main cities where you perform your missions, and the outer world which seems to stretch for an eternity and houses many hidden items and collectibles you will want if you are looking for your trophies or gamer points. The controls are nearly perfect in combat and navigation with the exception of free running, for the most part the controls make Altair go exactly where you want him but occasionally if you are not completely precise with your positioning you will end up jumping off a roof to your death.

Navigating the mission worlds is made easy with the help of a useful map that you can update by collecting viewpoints which allow you to see more of the map as you go through the game, revealing objectives and helpful side-missions. This map ordinarily shows you where to find those viewpoints but sometimes will run into blind spots forcing you to climb every tall building looking for one on your own, slowing down the progress of the game. The combat system is flawless, giving you several types of weapons as the game progresses to deal with any situation and any enemy, it is one of the first games to bring you a counter-attack option to deal with sudden enemy attacks. This game is a stealth game so if you are any good you won't need to engage in open combat, but if you're like me and you get bored of sneaking around and just want to cut off some heads, this game delivers on that as well allowing you to take on small armies of enemies at once once you have the right gear.

Overall, the game-play is excellent, the story is compelling and is one of my favourite series of games for the PS3. I urge any of you who liked Metal Gear Solid when you were a kid to give this game a try.

Out of a possible rating of 10, this gamer happily gives it a  9/10.

Feel free to let me know what you think of the game, leave a comment for me below and I will reply to it, make sure to check back regularly as I go through the rest of the AC series as well as some other games in the future!
